S2:E18 Fly Fishing Trip Preparations

Fly fishing trip preparations are necessary to make the outing memorable. But a little planning also creates anticipation, which is part of the entire experience. We are about to take our yearly trip to Montana for several days on the Missouri, Yellowstone, and several smaller creeks. We selected mid fall because we wanted to see if we could catch a few browns as they move up river to spawn. Click to listen to our episode on fly fishing trip preparations, and we hope you find some nuggets to help you plan your next trip.

  1. HI Guys!

It’s me again! I’m going backwards on the podcasts!
I just listened to your episode on Fly Fishing Trip Preparations.
I am the youngest in my family, but, I was always the one my dad could rely on to get things ready for our fishing or hunting excursions. He knew I enjoyed doing it, and he could count on me to get it right.
Something I am doing now, is I am keeping a small stash of equipment in my truck ready to go incase the urge hits. It’s a minimalist set up, but enough to get by on for a quick trip to the pond or stream.

One suggestion. If things ever go dry, and you run out of topics, it might be fun to hear from the wives about you guys. I am very fortunate in that my wife pick up the fly fishing bug on a trip to Orvis in Manchester, Vermont, and she fell in love with it when she caught her fish trout in New Mexico.

It’s just a thought, and something that might be a lot of fun!

    Best wishes,
    Roger Bird

  2. Great ideas! Especially the idea for a podcast with our spouses. That would be fun. Steve’s wife Pris has started to fly fish, but my wife Jana has not. Might be a podcast with a lot of laughter!

And love the minimalist stash. Now that is a killer idea!

    Dave
